Genentech, a leading biotechnology company, has unveiled plans to invest approximately $750 million to expand its manufacturing capabilities at its Hillsboro, Oregon campus. The expansion involves the construction of a new device fill-finish facility on its 75-acre site, designed to support advanced drug delivery devices such as pre-filled syringes and autoinjectors.
This investment aims to double the size of Genentech’s existing facility in Hillsboro and is expected to generate around 250 new manufacturing jobs and approximately 200 construction jobs during the build phase. Genentech expects commercial production operations to commence by 2031.
The new facility will be a key contributor to expanding the company’s U.S. end-to-end manufacturing capabilities, enhancing domestic supply chain security and resilience for critical medicines. The Hillsboro site has been an important part of Genentech’s manufacturing network since 2006, and this expansion underscores the company’s commitment to growing its footprint and capacity in the United States.
