Ford Invests $1 Billion to Modernize Kentucky Truck Plant with New Paint Shop

Ford Motor Company announced a $1 billion investment to build a new state-of-the-art paint shop at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. The project will modernize the facility, supporting production of Super Duty trucks and large SUVs, and reinforce Ford's commitment to U.S. manufacturing.

Ford Motor Company has unveiled plans to invest $1 billion in a significant modernization project at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. The investment will fund the construction of a new, state-of-the-art paint shop, replacing the plant’s existing facility and enhancing its manufacturing capabilities. Ford expects to break ground on the project later in 2026.

The Kentucky Truck Plant, one of Ford’s key manufacturing sites in the United States, produces the popular Super Duty trucks as well as the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs. The new paint shop is expected to support the high standards of production required for these vehicles, ensuring durability, quality, and efficiency.

Ford describes this project as part of its broader commitment to maintaining and expanding its manufacturing footprint in Kentucky. The automaker’s recent investments in the state have approached $4 billion collectively, underscoring Kentucky’s importance in Ford’s U.S. manufacturing strategy.

While Ford has not yet disclosed a completion timeline for the paint shop, the upgrade reflects ongoing efforts to modernize facilities and maintain competitive industrial production capabilities domestically. The Kentucky Truck Plant employs over 11,500 workers, many of whom will benefit indirectly from the modernization that aims to improve production efficiency and product quality.

This investment comes amid a broader national emphasis on strengthening domestic industrial infrastructure and supply chains within the automotive industry. By enhancing core manufacturing facilities like the Kentucky Truck Plant, Ford is positioning itself to meet future demand for high-end trucks and SUVs while supporting thousands of American manufacturing jobs.
